The book is called "The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook" by Clair Davies, updated by Amber Davies. It has some nice descriptive instructions and diagrams for dealing with pain based on manipulating trigger points.

The aches are coming from the mid-back, just below the shoulder blades. I have begun working on trigger points in that area as well as in the buttocks, with a ball about the size of a tennis ball (only harder) between me and a yoga mat. I already feel like I've made some progress.
By the way, it's kind of a vocation of mine to investigate methods of wellness that are astonishingly effective. I call them "black swans of wellness". The trigger point method was one of the first black swans I experienced. Niacin also qualifies.
