HATED that morose song. I would shut it off as soon as I heard the organ intro.
I always appreciated the lyrics, but I agree with you about the song over all.
I guess you also hate Stairway to Heaven and the 1000 other older Rock songs with “morose” content.
The music for A Whiter Shade of Pale was lifted straight from a piece by JS Bach.
I’d listen to it, then listed to A Salty Dog to cheer myself up.
I didn’t hate the song but for me, it lost its luster when it was featured on “The Big Chill” soundtrack, a really dreadful movie from 1983 about a group of self-absorbed Baby Boomers reuniting for a funeral of a friend.
