A tiger is apparently loose in Troup County, Georgia, on Sunday morning after a tornado tore through the area, authorities said.

The Pine Mountain Animal Safari reported that a tiger at the park was unaccounted for, the Troup County Sheriff's Office said.

It was unclear how the tiger escaped. The park posted on Facebook that it will be closed on Sunday.

Not being a game animal means no closed season.

THE TIGERS ARE SAFE!

Like much of Southwest Georgia, Pine Mountain Safari sustained extensive tornado damage this morning. Fortunately, none of our animals and employees were hurt. However, several animal enclosures were breeched, and two tigers briefly escaped. Both have now been found, tranquilized, and safely returned to a secure enclosure.

We appreciate your concern and support during this difficult time. Pine Mountain Safari is committed to the safety of our employees, our animals, our customers, and our community. We will continue to update this page with other relevant storm-related information, as warranted.

Living in NW GA, concern for the tigers’ safety wasn’t even on my radar.

Somehow, the Daily Mail in the UK knows before US reporters do.

In Texas, puma have about a 500 square mile range. Don’t know about tigers.

We call them exotics in Texas. All year long. Fallow, Blackbuck, red stag, nilgai, etc. We have a ton of exotics running around (and hogs too).

If it ain’t native it can be hunted year round here. Includes elk for some reason.?
Elk are actually native to Texas. Go figure.

For the Lord’s sake, DART the animal, and knock it out— not let some moron blow it away like Bungalow Bill.

Disgusting. Yes it is a wild animal probably hungry- but you can bait the thing with meat filled with ketamine or tranquilizer and preserve its life.

Oh no— big brave bwana. It’s not its fault if the enclosure was broken and set it free. Fear wins everytime with the ill informed. You can tranq it with a long gun.
