I am shocked to see people bringing dogs everywhere. I’ve seen them in grocery stores, hardware stores and even a restaurant. These aren’t service dogs. While I haven’t witnessed a biting incident, I expect to start reading about them and the subsequent lawsuits. Aside from biting, I know from my days in the grocery business that dogs might produce a pile on the floor or pee on a handy corner since I was the guy to answer, “cleanup on aisle four!” Everyone is trying to be dog friendly and emotionally supportive. Business-wise, this is stupid.
I’m a landlord. This week I got a letter cancelling the insurance at one of my houses because, during an inspection the inspector heard a dog barking inside. I have to supply a breed analysis, a bite history, weight and color photos. But, just to get things going on reducing their liability they didn’t ask me for those things first, they just went ahead and cancelled so their liability exposure would be minimal if the dogs were determined to be dangerous. Although these dogs are owned by my tenant, an animal control officer, they look as though they might have some Pitbull in them. Trust me, the genes in these dogs have more mix than a soup made by a starving man. If I lose the insurance, I must get rid of the tenant or the dogs because if I don’t have the house insurance then my liability insurance is cancelled. Because of our litigious society I can’t afford the risk.
Dogs are a pretend way to be a ‘parent’ by woketards and 20-30 somethings that refuse to grow up.
Just add a doggy deposit of $1000. You know the renters will stink up and destroy the place b/c of the dam mutt! It’s inevitable!
Another way they are trying to nickle and dime landlords, so as to drive people away from wanting to be landlords.
