Btw, just a heads up, loose, floppy handrails on escalators are also dangerous. Keep your hands on top of the rail to keep your fingers.
The only escalator I encounter is the one at the airport, and there are stairs too. Albuquerque is vertically challenged. You could live your whole life here and only use an elevator once every couple years.
There’s one building in NYC that has or had escalators that move at a different speed from the handrails. I can’t remember which one that is or was. You had to keep moving your hand, I think upward.
