Someone came up with a new definition of ‘racism’ about 5 or 10 years ago that said that in order to be racist against another group you had to have some ‘power’ over them.
And black people have no ‘power’ so its (technically, I guess) impossible for them to be racist.
So a lot of racist idiots glommed on to this newfangled definition and use it as an excuse to allow them to say or do any hateful thing they want against ‘whitey’.
I’ve had black people actually say this to me, in the midst of some racist diatribe against me.
“I can say what I want because it’s impossible for me to be racist”
I try to tell them that no, you just have to hate another race, but to no avail.

Yes, it is a relatively recent attempt to redefine the word. That’s why I keep a Webster’s Unabridged dictionary from the 1950’s on my bookshelf.
