Beatle haters go at it.
Mods pull if you wish.
Great tune from a great album with incredible double-tracked vocals by Paul.
I’ve heard it many many times but not until I looked it up just now did I learn that it has 2 two bass parts played by Paul and John and two harpsichord parts played by Paul and George Martin.
Thanks for posting.
Some A Holes can’t be fixed.
We need some Moody Blues and Spirit.
What you said.

It creemped me out.
McCartney and Lennon had recorded ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’ and ‘Penny Lane’, intending the two songs to be on Sgt. Peppers. The record company pressured them into releasing the two songs on a 45 early. Company executives didn’t want to wait for Sgt. Peppers.
At the time, English record companies had a policy of not putting songs on albums if the songs had been released separate from the album. So, the two songs never made it on the Sgt. Peppers. Too bad. Sgt. Peppers was a good album, but having ‘Strawberry Fields’ & ‘Penny Lane’ would have launched it to infinity and beyond.
Thanks for the feedback, DallasBiff. Mechanical World has been a favorite for so long, I hadn’t realized it might be a negative for other ears. I’m an old man now, have lost many lives, still wrestling with my own mortality. And, like the song says, “Once I had a girl to love.” Here’s another gem from Spirit, one that is a little more upbeat.
RE: McCartney and Lennon had recorded ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’ and ‘Penny Lane’, intending the two songs to be on Sgt. Peppers. The record company pressured them....
Absurd to follow meaningless rules they made up at the label.
Saw a George Martin interview where he said he always regretted not having the two songs on the album where they belonged.
I liked the fact that they kept the singles off of the albums.
Basically if you liked the song, you paid for it twice, you bought the 45, and then you bought the album with the same song already on it, so you get cheated.
Have to disagree with utmost respect. I thought and still think the sound reproduction quality on 45s is inferior to LPs.
I bought 45s rarely as when it was a Bob Dylan “can’t wait.”
Worked at E.J. Korvette’s in 1965-1966 part time in the record department. Customers talked to us about when someone’s next album will be out in terms of “they don’t have enough singles out yet.”
As to cost, may I mention the $3.95 mono and the $4.95-$5.95 stereo LPs. Amazingly a local guy who owned a used record store for twenty years told me as a kid he always bought the mono to get one more every 4 LPs. I was crazy about stereo and mostly bit the bullet for the extra buck. The industry move to stereo only took away the indecision for us all.
Note Rolling Stones Flowers and Beatles Hey,Jude were examples of loose singles and B sides that were orphans until the compilation LPs. Those were singles I had to buy or wait a year or more.
Yes, I remember when the “Hey Jude” album came out, and they threw on there all their old singles that were never on an LP.
"Fixing A Hole" is a song I have not heard in a while as I generally don't listen to Beatles music post-Revolver.
