There are a lot of gold panning enthusiasts in California. If you go up to Placerville area they’re still pulling gold out of those streams, not in any great amounts but it’s a hobby.

My in laws live in that area. We panned for gold one afternoon and found a few flakes. Nice way to spend an afternoon.
