A Chicago woman said a squatter with a long criminal history has taken over her dead mother’s home and has refused to leave since September.
Darthula Young told CBS Chicago this week that she received a call from neighbors in September that there had been a shooting inside the Chatham neighborhood home that her mother had left to the family after she died.
When Young arrived at the home, the locks had been changed and there was a bullet hole in the front window, she told the outlet.
"The person who had been shot in the apartment – this guy named Takito Murray - came back from the hospital, and informed us and the police that he now lived there, that he had rights – he was professional squatter," Young said.
Young said Chicago police told her she needs to go through the court system and she has been trying to do so with no success since September.
"It's been a nightmare," Young said.
CBS Chicago reported that Murray has been arrested for drug and weapons charges at least six times since 2017 and the outlet was able to confront Murray outside the home.
"I'm in the process of finding somewhere to stay," Murray told the outlet. "You can't just move like that."

They probably have an Alvin Bragg type of DA who only prosecutes GOP political candidates who have a good chance of winning an office that Rat Party Headquarters wants for itself.

Wait until the garbage leaves, then change the locks and move in. If he complains and call the cops, say you have been living there and claim squatter’s right.
I don’t know why people don’t just hire or ask some big guys to take care of this.

Where is your sensitivity towards the homeless. Joe Biden endorses squatters taking over empty buildings. That’s what he’s going to bases 2020 for run for the White House on. Squatters have rights too.
My vote is for the big guys.
Years back a relative had a renter that wouldn’t pay and wouldn’t move so she just tore the entire roof off the house he lived in (she owned) as a first step in the long process of fixing the roof leak.
He moved.
Probably against the law now to fix a leak in that manner.

Nobody is going to believe the guy. Nobody is going to be sympathetic to him.

Never get past feeder house to enter the threshing system. Feeder house would jam and its clutch would just chatter.
Silage choppers have a proven record of being able to do the job; (unfortunately for some farmers through the years).
What makes the whole situation nonsensical is that the owner can’t squat the squatter. If they broke in the house in the same way, they would be arrested.
Agreed. This will become commonplace
