You can forgive somebody, but still expect them to die for their crimes. The forgiveness is for the family, not him.

I’d be willing to forgive and want justice. While I would prefer that the State provide a priest for the guy on his way to execution, if the State isn’t willing to do so, while I wouldn’t advocate lynching the man, who am I to judge. If other people thought lynching was a good idea, I would do my best to supply the poor man with a priest.
