The one that exploded over Russia bit back was something like 30 to 60 feet I think. They were lucky. A house sized asteroid that impacted would pulverize everything in a half mile radius...plus of course tons of damage outside that.

On top of that, nobody saw the Chelyabinsk meteor coming. It was a complete surprise.
