Bummer. That was certainly different. I remember the ‘69 Winter Olympics with Peggy Flemming in her green outfit winning the gold. Felt I was in love for the first time and horny too.
I built a high jump pit in the back yard that year. I was amazed how high I could “jump”, which was just short of 6 feet. I was not long and lanky, but it was fun trying. My neighbor had a pole vault pit that went to 20’. He was State champion, and could clear close to 15’ at the time. He inspired us, but my friends and I were never good enough for the HS team.
Find some kids doing this during the summer in 2023. Dad even brought in the sawdust for us.
