Thanks for sharing. Some of them are so realistically beautiful that they look like photographs. It is great to know that there are still artists with such talent.
I do sketches with charcoal and pencil and know just how much time and effort can go into such art.
Huge amount of talent there. Yuge! And done by young people. Wow!
Some of them take photos then do the paintings...
Regardless, AMAZING skill, and worthy of any scholarship or donations.

That said, these paintings, sketches, and sculptures are amazing.
Here's my favorite (for obvious reasons)...
You have to work with a photo or from a live model or scene.
As said above, I sketch and can tell you that getting the dimensions of everything in the drawing right at the very start is a monstrous undertaking.
And after you get everything where it's supposed to be (in a rough pencil sketch), then the real art begins.
I can't imagine how those sculptors work. That is simply beyond my small brain.
As any artist will tell you, the art in this auction required some very real artistic talent...but the amount of craftsmanship involved (and love of subject) dwarfs the raw talent.
I am going to share this article with friends (mostly collectors). They will be as blown away as I am.
Looking at those paintings actually gives me hope.
I can’t afford the Art, but by cracky, I will start looking for cheap prints.
FReeper friend - being a part of HLSR for now a decade has been something I can’t explain other than it is “local” as I was a sailor was “national”.
Working at Rice for a decade (plus) and hearing multiple kids say they have applied and are wanting to go to that school makes me beam with pride.
Giving to others, even with just my time, makes me realize I AM worth it.
