He is retired and he DOES get a pension. It is his only income now that his mother’s annual allowance has stopped.
Retired O-9’s probably get a decent pension. In the US and most other countries,I imagine they get by okay without Mom’s allowance. But he could always follow the American trend and sell weapons to the government after retiring, too.
