Note to GM: the majority of people recognize the EV environmental destruction program for what it is. People don’t want your toxic waste dumps.

Actually this article isn’t about the lack of demand, its about GM’s lack of ability to actually manufacture their products.

Apparently they have very large waiting lists with deposits for certain EV’s but can’t seem to get their act together on the manufacturing side to deliver.

Personally, I’m sticking with the ICE... perhaps consider a hybrid depending on price, but not a chance in hell I’ll be buying a vehicle with limited range and long recharging cycles.

When they can go 300-400 miles and recharge in 5-10 minutes, then EV’s are something more than a commuter/niche vehicle, until then, that’s all they are.

I wonder what percentage of GM’s revenue nowadays comes from fleet sales to the public sector...?

That figure might explain a lot.

EV’s are niche/limited market.

If I ran a fleet where daily use was limited in range, there could be a case made for an EV fleet vs an ICE fleet.

If I felt I didn’t need a general purpose vehicle and just wanted a commuter vehicle... as a primary or secondary vehicle, etc.

However for the general case, EV’s are an impractical solution today.

They get the ranges up to 300-400 miles and recharge times down to 5-10 minutes, then they compete in the general category, until then, their use cases are limited.

Of course, when the power is out due to a giant natural disaster... GASOLINE still works to move vehicles... Electrical distribution can be out for weeks. But that’s generally an edge case, until you find yourself in that situation

I would never want to buy an EV from a company that is forced by the government to make them and is thus just "checking the box" in order to meet some artificial market requirement imposed on them.

Say what you want about Tesla but they seem to have a passion for manufacturing EVs because that's all they focus on.
