I think I read that submarines were used by the Confederacy during the Civil War.

I got my middle name from my Confederate Great Grandfather.   Odd that I have never thought of changing my name.

Other than the CSS Virginia, the worlds first ironclad ship, I don’t recall the South have much of a navy.
