“He then demonstrates how the radical left actually managed to capture the institutions — by using tactics all too familiar to the modern American reader. They bullied, harassed, threatened, and committed violence against anyone who posed a threat to their ideology (namely, prominent conservative speakers) and installed pseudo-intellectuals in positions of authority on college campuses, while also creating entire fields of study out of whole cloth — fields that had no intellectual value at all and were purely driven by left-wing politics, like gender studies and black studies.”
He missed the most important aspect of their strategy - capturing the high moral ground. They always managed to paint themselves as the defenders of the downtrodden, the poor, the blacks, mother earth - all the “oppresseds”. And they were able to sell their propaganda to millions of soft-hearted and soft-minded useful idiots thus gaining popular support.
And that strategy is still working like a charm today with no effective strategy on the right to dislodge them from their moral high ground.
Good point. And now the left’s “downtrodden” are becoming the tyrants. Someone cleverer than me would be able to politically jiu-jitsu this into recapturing the moral high-ground.
Victimhood is the easy path and largely lasts forever.
Achievement/accomplishment is not only more difficult but can degrade with time.
Not a tough sale.
Having the media as your wing man has always been a huge advantage for the Left. It also helps to have academia and the entire federal bureaucracy in your corner.
Having said that, its important to remember that those with the greatest will to win usually do. The Left fights for what it wants (especially those who are willing to lie, cheat and steal). The Right doesn’t. Conservatives are mostly a passive lot, even when there’s a lot to lose. Their main focus is on their work, families and building something. The Left simply wants to tear things down.
Things will continue to go downhill for the country until such time that conservatives find a reason to stand up for themselves.
