Obviously Dad didn’t make an appropriate first impression on the boyfriend. Any time my daughters had boyfriends over for the first time I made sure I had weapons out in the open and sometimes I was cleaning one. It was a good test actually. My girls have decent tastes in men. Invariably a gun conversation would occur and that served as a basis of regular conversations and respect. I even took a couple of these fine young men to the range to shoot with me and my daughter.

It paid off too. My eldest daughter is married off to a soldier headed to OCS and my youngest is dating a gun-nut lawyer.
