Well, the answer should be obvious: There was an aircraft transporting area rugs and rolls of industrial plastic flying overhead. Somehow, one of the rugs and a sheet of the plastic fell out. The rug struck the man lengthwise, entombing him in it. The impact caused the man and the rug to be moved 6 miles. Then, while the rug and the man were still rolling, the sheet of plastic gently fell on the man and rug, and the plastic was tightly wrapped around them both as they rolled.

I mean, DUH, it's kinda sad I have to take the time to explain something so obvious.

Your explanation reminds me, when my boys were younger we'd see a situation and I'd challenge them to make up a story to fit what we saw. This is a perfect one I'll have to ask them about. How did a guy end up six miles away, wrapped in plastic, and then rolled up in a rug.
