An extended family member up in Canada is interested in trying to replicate solar like I have in Alabama. I told him it's almost certainly not practical for him, but we'll look at it when I get up there later this year. He does, however, have a small creek in his property that's almost always running (during the non-winter months) and empties into a pond, which drains fairly regularly to maintain a static level. We'll do the math on volume and head at the drain point to see if a pico hydro turbine is do-able to provide a lot of free power for him.
There are a lot of winter months.
A guy a couple blocks from me put in a micro wind turbine along his fence adjacent to the sidewalk. It sticks up maybe ten feet above the top of the fence. It rarely turns and, when it does, it probably makes 100 watts at best (probably 25 - 50 is more like it).
I’m sure the owner is very smug and self-satisfied with his virtue-signaling toy, but what colossal waste of money!
Is that legal to restrict the global water flow?
