The Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday will consider accepting a donation for the Los Angeles Police Department to receive a dog-like robot, though critics worry about expanding police surveillance.

The robot — a quadruped unmanned ground vehicle called Spot — is valued at about $280,000, which the Los Angeles Police Foundation plans to donate...

If approved by the council on Tuesday, the LAPD would use the canine Boston Dynamics robot for reconnaissance in situations like SWAT incidents.

Critics, however, argue that Spot would instead be misused to monitor and target people in poor Black and brown communities.

Algorithms for politically correct doubts is just too much even for La-La Land.

I think the average thug would quickly figure out how to disable this..thing so that it was no longer a threat or even a nusiance.

When all else fails, get a couple of large, solid rocks and have at Fido the Cop.

Make Fido climb up an electrified fence after having been lured into an enclosed area.

A robot dog played a role in Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451.

Main character Guy Montag has a nightmare in which he has been chased to exhaustion by a "robot hound" that knocks him down and paralyzes him with an anesthetic injection delivered by means of a needle in its mouth.

And when the statistics are in and show that their “clients” are predominantly minority populations, they will be retired within two minutes.

Most Demonrats are temporarily trapped in a type of robot several times per day: an elevator. A police access software upgrade and they are ready-made rat catch traps. "Take me to the lobby, HAL." "I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that."

Funding for robotic dogs is like funding reparations, no money, all smoke and no fire.

HAL....

True. They will excitedly report “Our young tech wizards have found a way to have the robot dogs totally controlled by AI and not subject to the failings of humans. Once unlashed they will be beyond out control-—and out of the reach of annoying lawsuits involving us.”

Like the final two episodes of Bones where the Jeffersonian is locked down. Bullet proof doors and walls. “These doors are shut by the computer system-—it was designed as a safety measure. Now we can’t get out before the bomb goes off.”
