The girl (at the time) who lived was sleeping in a tent with her sister. A bear started chewing on her heel (apparently ‘kicked’ out of her sleeping bag) the zipper was apparently open. She was afraid of yelling thinking the bear would attack her sister. I guess she couldn’t take it any longer and screamed out in pain, awaking her sister and startling the bear. She limps to this day from the damage to her heel. This was near YNP.
The other two were HS friends of my college friend Dan. He was working at a resort on the East side of Glacier NP when he saw this couple from home and they chatted. They mentioned that they were camping, had just arrived. Dan said the grizzlies were pretty active so they needed to camp in a designated area. They, needless to say, did not. They camped on a gravel spit at a bend of a river — turns out it was a great place to catch fish for the bears. Just pieces of camping equipment were found...
