Then, either way, we'd have a prez in 24 who is very unlikely to Warp Speed us again.
The right thing to happen before then is a robust primary with hopefully more adult behavior and a promise by all to vote for the winning R.
I won't vote for The Don in the primary. But I will vote for him if he wins it. Folks who threaten to sit home if he loses the primary are selfish like him.
