Damn I just hate this crap, anyone ever hear of equipment cost employee costs etc, no hospital gets paid at what they charge. I spent 30yrs paying/auditing claims of all types.
Then you also know that a large percentage of patients get free medical care. Low income, homeless, illegal aliens, etc. The paying customer pays for them and their own medical care.
I worked in a county hospital for fifteen years. Some of the “homeless” would abuse the system by coming to the hospital ER several times a week for minor afflictions. The hospital was required to treat them prior and discharge them. Some used the hospital ambulances for their taxi service. The cost is enormous and no one is looking out for the people who pay.
Just like everything else, the cost of care is borne by the paying customer while the freeloaders get everything provided for them for free.
Yes, I have. I also know it is impossible to get a strait answer from anybody what something will cost before you have that something done. You'll know when you get the invoice. But can count on the charges being ridiculously high for routine services, et alone any serious procedure.
What does how long you processed claims have to do with the article?
