Years ago my young son had a medical issue and he was hospitalized for about a week. I was flabbergasted at how they did the billing because I thought I was supposed to pay a set rate (Blue Cross - Employer Insurance) for a “hospitalization”.

Little did I know that the “hospital” contracted with everyone who touched him. I spent weeks afterwards having to pay 10, 15, 20, and 25 dollar co-pays and the amount of bills I received was insane. By the time it was finished I had paid far more “out of pocket” than what my deductible was.

The bureaucracy that has been created in healthcare requires multiple people in billing for every healthcare professional. There has to be a better way to do business!

better compared to what?

When I prepared taxes and they wrote the check, I would tell them it was better than being in Africa and paying no taxes.
