I have read multiple articles about him following his death, and like this one, they all fail to mention that his second wife, Ana Marie was killed in the Flight 800 shoot down. Most just say she died in a plane crash.

And, virtually all the money he made during his career went for the care and treatment of his child, who had serious medical issues from birth.

Wayne was one of the most important composers and players who wove the pathways from early bop, through straight bebop, through the incredible Miles Davis quintet of the 60’s; then Weather Report and finally his own quartet and band(s). He was absolutely one of great, great players in jazz.
