Hello neighbors and FRiends
I’ve been enjoying the fresh air SW of Superior, AZ, for the past 18 days in a process known as car / tent camping at the very busy and picturesque - Picketpost Mtn. Trailhead. Both short and long distance hikers enter and exit the trail systems here, as well as a hearty equestrian community.
Rain and snow, plus a dash of hail, lightning and thunder have been keeping me company about every 3 days.
I have been held captive by 17 frozen servings (Q reference lol) of soup leftovers that I brought with me, from my brother’s house, as they were under threat of disposal by him, if left behind in the freezer.
The soups were hearty, quite tasty and worth saving (yeah) as they were one of my best concoctions to date. The problem was that they contained water and were too heavy and too messy to carry in my pack. That being said, I have finished them all off and it’s time to go hiking.
I plan to hike 300 miles south, to the US Mexico border, then backtrack north, to my starting point, and hike north until I am out of time, which means that a mountain pass has been plowed open allowing access to an alpine mountain resort, that I will work at once again this coming summer.
Speaking of resorts and snow, 17 miles as a crow flies, NE of my work location, 58’ of snow has already fallen on top of Mammoth Mtn., and 41.5’ has fallen at the main ski lodge.
Snow could continue falling through the months of March, April and even May.
The Tioga Pass Rd., which is the main east - west way into Yosemite N P, may not even be cleared until sometime in July.
Due to supply and demand, snow shovelers are earning the rate of $40 an hour in Mammoth Lakes, CA., this winter. Last year, a paltry $28 an hour was the market rate for snow shovelers.
I am in my truck at a cell service hot spot, next to a roadside historical marker using my cell phone, and I loathe using my cell phone’s microscopic keyboard, so any replies by me will most likely occur later today, as I plan to book a room, allowing me to use my laptop.
Good to be among my own kind once again!
PS I stayed in Globe, on the 11th and 12th of Feb. I came across the intersections of Hwy 60, Hwy 77, and Hwy 70. I was rewarded with a memory of me standing along the shoulder of the road at night, as I attempted to hitch hike back up the mountain to my home in Lakeside, AZ. I lived in a home on the south side of Rainbow Lake. I was either 14 or 15 at the time. This would have been in 1971, or 1972. We didn’t have any safe spaces back then - but we did have “hard bark,” Heck, at that time everyone had some level of hard bark, or you didn’t make it.
I was also about as close to Lakeside Granny’s house, the past two weeks ago when I was at that intersection, as I’ve ever been.
Something tells me that eventually, we merry band of brothers and sisters will meet.

I understand your feelings—am awaiting the white hats to intervene, as the the time is here, for the Storm to arrive.
The source of our problems is not Russia or China. It is the Deep State in DC and the 70%+ of Congress that has been compromised by them.

So good to hear of your adventures, freepersup. Glad all is well. I also loathe and despise our psychopathic overlords....both yours, and our demons up here. May they rot for all they have done and are doing to the good people of both our countries.
