I know of at least three major copper/zinc deposits in the United States which have never been developed, strictly for political reasons.
I know one that does exist and can be re-opened if they wanted.
Thee largest known deposit of float copper in the world.
Masses that are over 90% pure copper.
Much less the very large producers in UT and AZ that have shut down. Or so the story goes. Same with lead.
On further examination their appear to be sufficient ongoing US mining operations in copper and lead.
Did not look at total US production related to world production.
