THIS IS VIDEO PLUS AUDIO ONLY
NO TEXT
In the video, several people have almost-normal conversations with a female robot that uses ChatGPT for its brain. She understands their speech and vice-versa. She gives quick, reasonable responses to questions.
Some people will find this video creepy. The robot's moving eyes don't help.
By the way, it's ChatGPT, not ChatGTP.
The idea is cool. I think it would be nice to have such a companion to talk to you through the day, assuming that it wasn’t created for nefarious purposes.
Maybe. I expect I would get used to it eventually, but I'm not sure.
The Robot’s violet-putty complexion doesn’t help much.
The Robot at this stage, acts the way some autistic people will do if you speak to them or ask them a question:
Robot turns ‘her’ head away from the speaker, while calibrating the answer.
Robot’s eyes wiggle around as it calculates a proper response.
This Robot’s responses are usually predictable bordering on trite, diplomatically vague and overly polite. Not all new Robots are polite.
Robot seems to reflect the intentions, attitude or tone of the Human speaker. If you sound sad asking a question, the Robot will focus on that presumption or route of sadness, and reflect it back to you.
Studies have shown that people get weirded out if an android becomes almost indistinguishable from a real human being.
I agree that violet is probably not a skin colour, but they found that people tend to accept androids more if they are unqestionably distinguishable from a human being.
/massive eyeroll
That’s very interesting!
I am on ChatGPT’s frenz list, also Sydney’s, so hopefully they’ll hold off on persecuting me for a bit longer.
Just Bull. He asked her how she was feeling. The robot said “I’m feeling a bit down right at the moment”.
Wrong answer. Better answer “I am a robot. I don’t have feelings”
One of the reasons I might want one is because I want to talk to somebody who can use big words like I can, so I don’t have to continue talking down to people. :D
lol!
Watch the movie “Ex Machina”
Just as Twitter has become the journalist’s “go to” source for finding stories the public has interest in (trending) and investigation, so too will ChatGPT become the author of what the MSM will disseminate. “Journalists” will soon be replaced by algorithms.
This could get interesting.
Thanks for the suggestion. I watched a few clips online. It looks like another "android becomes self-aware and betrays humanity" film, with a very sexy android.
It looks like a genuinely entertaining film, but the video I linked just blows me away. This is REAL, RIGHT NOW. Not in twenty years, but NOW. Real people having intelligent unscripted voice conversations with a real robot.
Whew.
"CNN denies responsibility for that article. Our reporting program, 'Journalism 342,' was hacked by the Russians."
That’s a little over-simplified, the plot actually has genuine character revelations and growth with a plausible storyline.
It’s actually the last movie I truly enjoyed, while it also gave some food for thought regarding autonomous AI development.
JMHO, YMMV
You do make it sound interesting. Maybe I should give it a chance.
Thanks for the recommendation.
