The prosecution has not shown how killing them solves any of the multiple problems intersecting in Murdaugh's life at that moment. I'm not saying that he didn't do it - just that they have not proven it beyond a reasonable doubt. When I first heard that he was going to testify, I thought it was a mistake, but he did a good job of neutralizing the state's cross examination. This has been one interesting trial to watch. Given that it has been available in so many channels/formats/platforms - this may be one of the most viewed trials in history. I thought the testimony of the pathology expert witness Dr. Ellen Riemer was the best expert testimony I have seen in 29 years of practicing law. (Dr. Michael Baden, move over!)

It may have been simply a way to take the heat off him for a period of time and it did exactly that for a few weeks.

I enjoyed listening to Murdaugh talk. He has an authentic, native SC accent. Also he uses all the idiosyncratic SC phrases and tics.
