Alex Murdaugh, the patriarch of a prominent South Carolina family, seemed to have it all: a loving wife, two beautiful sons, and a successful law career. However, his presumably happy facade would soon crumble and his wife, Maggie, and youngest son, Paul, would be shot to death on the Murdaugh family land on June 7, 2021.

Until, I was graduated with a BS in Bus Adm and got a job with a top tier company, I basically knew what my social limits were with the top dog families/ available women in my area. I was lucky to invited to their exclusive New Year party/dance.

My College Dean recommended that during my second semester my junior year to take 2 ~ 3 hour courses at the local college in my hometown. To age and not be graduating before I was 21. The two professors @ the smaller college had been his students at the big college.

Suddenly, with gals at the local college and a few from my local class, I was a positive target.

I was invited to join our local country club and got some good free golf and tennis lessons. That resulted in a few local job offers. My dean back at the big college, told me, “Don’t do anything stupid. Return to the 4 year college and get my degree!”

Great advice. What was amazing then and later on job interviews or getting unsolicited job offers, no company nor person needed/wanted to see the copy of my degree. The same happened after I got my MBA.

One son is a vice president for a major company, and he never had to show his degree. His son our grandkid will be graduated this May and has had a job offer for months.

His sister has been an official RN for 3+ years.

She was working not officially as an RN yet, and the hospital where she was working was withdrawing money for a 401K. She asked me what that was for. I explained it to her and the reality that she had a job waiting for when she became an RN. She passed that national test and got a doubling in salary.

Again, she never had to show a copy of her RN degree.
