That honorific is reserved for MDs, DOs, DDS, etc, etc.
PhDs and EdDs should never be referred to as “Doctor”. Same with JD, PharmD.
Wasn’t there a time where Henry Kissinger was referred to as “Doctor Kissinger”?

Where I worked just recently, they’re hiring PhD’s for every level positions, a type of order entry.
Last three, entry level positions, who have to get promoted several times to be assistants, were PhD’s who couldn’t find work in the fields they studied.
