If you’re going to refer to him as “Her,” you should probably call him Mare Pete.
If the labels husband / wife are interchangeable in Mare Pete’s relationship, the term she could be used appropriately for Mare. After all, if they stumble and bumble at the question ‘What is a Woman?’ One could begin to ask What is a wife? Since time immemorial we have used the terms she / her when addressing the ‘lady’ of the house. While for most democRATS, their pronouns are definitely ‘Me, Myself and I’ she / her would apply to Mare Pete.
