Don’t know how you could research original documents without knowing cursive. Told that to my students all the time.
For sure. I've spent plenty of time reading very old legal documents, not only for people who can't read cursive, but often for those who can't be bothered to research, and I actually enjoy transcribing historic documents. You never know what you're going to uncover in the lowest basement of a courthouse!
Learned to type when I was a little girl, the folks brought home a brand new Windows 98, told me where the fingers go and that's all I needed.
More millennials can touch-type than tell time. Or times tables, for that matter.
