Please. I was eating.
“Octavia E. Butler and Samuel R. Delany, both of whom he admired because “they were Black and absolutely, phenomenally awesome.””
I like white authors. Oooo was that the wrong thing to say ? Was I being racist again? I admire Ursula K. Leguin and Ray Bradbury because they were White and absolutely, phenomenally awesome.
And finally,
“Marcus heads up a division of the Electric Afro Science Institute, which Smith called “a superhero-led independent afrofuturist organization that works in biomechanics, cosmic engineering, nanotechnology, medical alchemy.””
Only one of those fields of science actually exist. It is racist as hell to make a black character head up research of divisions of science that outside of “nanotechnology” don’t actually exist. I mean would it be too much to make the “Electro Afro Science Institute” work in cancer research, pediatric medicine, climate science and nanotechnology?
Also, “Electro Afro Science Institute” was already done. The Electric Company on PBS.
