The Boers are African.
Though descended from Euro immigrants to Africa, they became their own thing, very much like Americans, or Australians, or Canadians, ceased to be British.
And they are only partly of Dutch stock. An important element were French Huguenots (refugee Protestants), plus other random Euros of all kinds. Charlize Theron is one of those Huguenot descendants.
I had one of those DNA tests done some years back, as I’m adopted.

Always thought I was Italian. I’m about 5% actual Italian.
Not sure how Mom and Dad would take that if they were still around…
I don’t have any problems with it; I think it’s fascinating.
