If you realize that Crisco was developed by the German Navy during WW I as a synthetic lube for their submarine diesel engines it will help understanding why it works.. Doesn’t stink like petroleum oils and doesn’t burn. They didn’t call it “Crisco”. That took some years when others figgered out it was edible. And it’s still the basis for other lubes we use in things like breathing air compressors.

Anderol 500 comes to mind. You can put the stuff on your pancakes. ( I didn’t say do it. I just said you could).

And Crisco should be an item on your prepper’s list.
