Narita is an economist who is merely saying the quiet part out loud. The Welfare State is an unsustainable Ponzi scheme. For example, the US currently bears an Underfunded Liability load (SS, Pensions, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.) of 300+ Trillion. More than the entire World’s Economic Output!?! Clearly, this is an existential threat to the US…

Who is the blithering idiot who lumps Social Security benefits in with “welfare” payments? SS benefits are paid out to US citizens based upon the payments they have made into the SS program over the period of their working lives. Welfare payments are made to individuals who have never paid into any program at any time for anything. One is a return on a long-term investment, the other is a handout.
