A shale/slate tank rocks. Got crappie? Granny had a shale quarry. Fun swimming and fishing.
It was a great bass pond for a long time. Had a hot summer and the plant strong plan life in the pond died off, but we did not see a fish kill. Since then it has not really recovered. One of the neighbors caught a 4-1/2 pound bass in it. It was full of pound up size.
For a number of years you could go there any day you liked and almost always caught fish.
Nice cool water. Better than than the muddy water back home.
