The purpose of public education is not to teach only what parents want their children to be taught. It is to teach them what society needs them to be taught.’
Teaching children "what society needs them to be taught" is the job of the parents, who will use their own values and judgment to provide their children with the proper perspectives.
Meddling in this is no part of a teacher's job, and if this teacher doesn't understand that, she should find another job.

As a matter of fact, it’s true that the purpose of public education is to teach what the State wants. I am constantly amazed that people seem incapable of receiving this fact. They’re in denial, desperate to believe that the State can be trusted. People who won’t trust a cop or bureaucrat somehow feel no hesitation in entrusting their children to state paid indoctrinators, and feel aggrieved when the result is unsatisfactory.
