Flashing back to Mark Gastineau, former DE at NY Jets, who tried boxing. In the only fight of his I saw, he was knocked out by a smaller version of what can charitably be called a tomato can. Ed “Too Tall” Jones, former Cowboy, also had a forgettable career in the ring.
Gastineau - my only memory of him was doing his post-tackle victory dance completely oblivious to the fumble rolling around at his feet.
Looked like a quick left hook to his chin.
Getting hit in that spot with enough pop will “noodle leg” you.
That was the Pancrase league and Bas Rutten.
It didn’t allow closed hand strikes to the head.
Rutten used palm heel strikes, which are very effective and are especially good for someone who is not a trained puncher or has more delicate hands.
Kayfabe
the dude was a legend- He had bad asthma- and almost could do MMA- but he kept at it and eventually was able to become competitive- He has a bunch of vids on yuotube explainign different defense techniques and strikes to quickly imobilze an aggressive attacker
Yeah,
I’ve watched him for decades.
One of the legends.
Yeah - I’m thinking the penalty for taunting was the result of his stupidity.
