Greg Hardy, the former Pro Bowl defensive end whose NFL career ended because of a domestic violence accusation, has taken up a second career as a pro fighter. His latest fight did not go well.

Hardy has signed with an organization called Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, which promotes boxing without gloves. In his first fight on Friday night, he was knocked cold by Josh Watson, a mediocre fighter he was handed as his first bare knuckle opponent in an attempt to give him an easy win.

Flashing back to Mark Gastineau, former DE at NY Jets, who tried boxing. In the only fight of his I saw, he was knocked out by a smaller version of what can charitably be called a tomato can. Ed “Too Tall” Jones, former Cowboy, also had a forgettable career in the ring.

Gastineau - my only memory of him was doing his post-tackle victory dance completely oblivious to the fumble rolling around at his feet.

Looked like a quick left hook to his chin.

Getting hit in that spot with enough pop will “noodle leg” you.

That was the Pancrase league and Bas Rutten.
It didn’t allow closed hand strikes to the head.
Rutten used palm heel strikes, which are very effective and are especially good for someone who is not a trained puncher or has more delicate hands.

Yeah - I’m thinking the penalty for taunting was the result of his stupidity.
