Ironically, it will probably be an improvement. The vast majority of whites whom I served as a Fed Gov contractor (98-04) milked their cushy positions and didn’t do much anyway!
After I got married, my Canadian wife and I applied for her green card. In Hartford, CT, (late 1997) the older white woman told us that the application process had changed and that we had to start all over again and resubmit everything. She had a bit of a smirk. We had observed her sending away numerous people in line ahead of us.
I asked to see her supervisor, a younger black woman. That lady noted that our time stamp was before the change and it was determinative, and we went to the next step. She was professional, well spoken, and was able to work a job where you have to deal with frustrated or demanding people all day. She still managed to be pleasant. I do not know if she was an affirmative action hire, but if she was, she rose to the requirements of the job. The contrast was striking.

She had a bit of a smirk. By the sound of it, a liberal. CT is full of them. CT contains some of the most rudely smug people with whom I've ever worked. You must be lonely there, as a conservative.

I had a similar experience a while back at the DMV. It was crowded; but, I watched the black guy at the counter just really move people through quickly. He walked away briefly, probably a break, and a white guy took over and everything slowed down. While this was happening a young black woman and her child(maybe about 10-12) sat down next to me. When the black guy returned, I said out loud, oh good. The little black girl looked at me, sort of amazed. I told her, the line moves really fast when he is working. She just nodded. I don’t think she expected me to be complimentary of this man.
