And if all that’s not bad enough, a doctor who works at the ER at my local hospital in Upland, California was run over on his bicycle, then the perp stabbed him to death, all this on the street in broad daylight. God help us....
Why would he stab him to death?
PA - bachelors degree with 2 years additional schooling No clinical rotations
NP - bachelors degree with approx 2 years additional schooling at least part of which is spent in clinical rotations
MD - bachelors degree + 4 years additional schooling of which 2 years are spent in clinical rotations PLUS at least 3 years (can be up to 7 or more) of residency and fellowship training after graduation.
There is no comparison in level of education
Hmm. Why did the woman go to the extremely expensive emergency room route repeatedly instead of contacting her own doctor?
I’m sure there are NPs with decades of experience who know what they are doing.
Nah. You'll just self-diagnose by googling your symptoms.
How is having your blood drawn all that different than the bleeding practices of yore?
“Wait a minute. Perhaps she’s right. Perhaps I’ve been wrong to blindly follow the medical traditions and superstitions of past centuries. Maybe we barbers should test these assumptions analytically, through experimentation and a “scientific method”. Maybe this scientific method could be extended to other fields of learning: the natural sciences, art, architecture, navigation. Perhaps I could lead the way to a new age, an age of rebirth, a Renaissance!...Naaaaaahhh!”
ERs are where millions of illegals and bums go for the best ‘free’ medical care available. The rest of us, pay up, chumps.
No idea why, it was senseless....

We are talking education not experience. I’m sure there are NPs who are reasonably good at what they do but they will never have the education and training to match a physician. This is particularly evident when faced with an atypical presentation or rarer condition
