An asteroid can be described as anything bigger than a pebble. Most meteors are no bigger than a grain of sand. Most of them are dust sized which you can see on a clear night.
I worked with a woman at Lincoln Labs who had managed the LINEAR program. She had an asteroid named after her. She was the only person I ever met or knew who had an asteroid named after them.
