A Sergeant in my Army unit died just like this inside of 24 hr.s. Meningitis in the field. Complained of a headache, then sick, quickly worsened, airlifted out then dead that evening.
I had a mild case of bacterial meningitis when I was in the Army. One of the reasons I believe in having a supply of antibiotics in the fridge. The lead time to a Dr.s visit, accurate diagnosis and right antibiotic can be a killer.
