That is certainly true. A bachelor man in his 30s, established in a successful career, is considered prime marriage material. But he's got his eye on younger women.
Women who make it to their mid 30s without a spouse are now well on the road to spinsterhood and multiple cat ownership. Or she may be forced to settle with a less desireable man, who is by now on his second or third marriage attempt, likely with children to support from his previous marriage.
Women who spend their 20s passing over decent men while looking for the "perfect" man usually find themselves in this sad situation.
It’s a different world. Most folks back then lived pretty much in the same place their entire lives. Starting in ones teens, it was a race to snag up the desirable mates before they were taken, and if you waited until you were in your 20s, most likely it was too late. You knew there weren’t a lot of fish in the sea, so you had to find someone ‘good enough’ and make it work.
