Yellowstone, TV’s top-rated drama, may end in spectacular fashion.
Deadline understands that Taylor Sheridan, co-creator and showrunner, Paramount Global and Paramount Network are moving to end their signature show in its current form. But they are plotting a potential franchise extension to continue the Dutton saga, a new show with Matthew McConaughey in talks to star.
It is unclear which of the Yellowstone cast will move over to the McConaughey-led series, but it is expected to include several of the big stars.
“We have no news to report. Kevin Costner is a big part of Yellowstone and we hope that’s the case for a long time to come. Thanks to the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan, we are always working on franchise expansions of this incredible world he has built. Matthew McConaughey is a phenomenal talent with whom we’d love to partner,” a Paramount Network spokesperson told Deadline.

The crux of the issue with the original Yellowstone series involves star Kevin Costner and disagreements over shooting schedules.

I hadn’t scrolled down far enough before I posted something similar. I’m with you.
Yellowstone is also available on DVD. We get them from the library.
I know that’s a popular notion, but I have to say that for me, it’s not always, just sometimes, about $$$. I suspect I’m not unique in that regard.
The earlier seasons were better but it’s still fun to watch. And Tulsa King is entertaining and Stallone is really funny.
Love the show, but i hate Summer Higgins and John Dutton hooking up.
Shoulda left him with the Senator.
The first four seasons of Yellowstone (and eventually all seasons) are streaming on Peacock.
The current season of Yellowstone can be streamed on Philo or watched the old-fashioned way, week-to-week on the Paramount Channel.
1883, 1923, Tulsa King, Mayor of Kingstown are premiering and streaming on Paramount+
Paramount+ and Peacock are plenty for me. Philo isn't worth $25/mo just to stay current with Yellowstone. The fifth season will be on Paramount+ a couple months after all its episodes have aired.
Sidenote: If you haven't tried it, PlutoTV is awesome. It's completely free and has channels dedicated to one show, like The Andy Griffith Show, Gunsmoke, Star Trek, Mystery Science Theater 3000, Rifftrax, dozens of others, movie channels too--24/7.
Beto wannabe - now that’s hilarious! Strange we haven’t heard much about him wanting to run for office lately. Maybe he did some polling. I know this, as an actor he’s okay but nothing great. He hasn’t aged well, that’s for sure. I’ve seen him on the sideline for U Texas football games. Wonder how he likes Texas begging to move to the SEC?
I think it’s because it’s turned into a soap opera.
This season has been a mess of scenes where anyone with a brain says, “Really?”
It was bad enough where they would murder people in the same place for decades, dump them off the side of the road…and drive away. Over and over again. At least take them away from the road for God’s sake.
Now the adult daughter of the Governor is getting into bar fights.
I don’t blame Costner for getting sick of it.
You’re so right! He and Summer have no chemistry and she’s not even attractive, interesting, or smart, like the senator is.
I just saw Jimmy co-star in a recent Twilight Zone episode....
Not my favorite either, but I thought it was funny how it shows how brainless Summer's rent-a-mob is. The mob goes where it's told to go, and if asked, they really don't know what they're protesting.
I watched the first episode. Between the supposed right to kill people and the supposed right to divert water anywhere and anytime you wanted rather than owning “water rights” and being sued into total poverty if violated...well, I gave up after one episode.
I even confused myself :)
I may watch the latest season...after the $40 cost comes down, sometime after the season ends. Either way, I can live my life with or without it.
Yellowstone was interesting but I cannot get into the other spin offs.
Out of curiosity, I attended a Kevin Costner music concert. He has a band. He talked about his life in a very humble manner with a slideshow and the success of Yellowstone, but he loves music. I will say this, if he wasn’t Costner he would not be on any stage, But his band was great (sure the best money can buy) and everyone there really came to see Costner, not to hear earth shattering music!!!
6666 and any other spinoff is going to have difficulty maintaining viewership because it will be missing the most important element of Yellowstone and that’s the ranch itself, set in Montana’s Paradise Valley, which I can attest is one of the most beautiful places on earth. 6666 won’t have the land wars, like Yellowstone and anybody’s who’s been to Texas will tell you it’s just a whole lot of empty land. No mountains, no forests, no massive valleys. Anybody taking over Yellowstone who isn’t a Dutton won’t have the connection to the land that makes it so special to them.
Summer/Piper Perabo looks like she needs to shower.
to paraphrase Beth “ trying to give syphyllis (sic) to our couch”
He's also written "1883" and now "1923", "Tulsa King" with Sylvester Stallone, and "Mayor of Kingstown" with Jeremy Renner. I've watched all of them but "Mayor of Kingstown." I tried to watch the first episode, but after having worked in NY State's prison system for 25 years, I can't bring myself to watch any movies or shows that feature prison life.
Great show. Love Sylvester in the role. It's nice to see Dana Delaney again too. Haven't seen her in anything since they cancelled her series "Body of Proof."
