From your western view.

So? I'm just pointing out that Putin is ruling like an autocrat. And it's what the Russians are used to.

It’s typical American arrogance to assume everybody wants our system of government.

True. But the Russians are doing a bad job at it. The Arabs seem to be doing okay. Oil money helps but look at what happened to Venezuela. They should be like the Gulf States right now.

**Let’s not start WWIII over some breakaway provinces in Ukraine.**

There’s some counties that would like to break away from Californication and Oregone too.

Putin rules under the constitution of Russia.

Russians are pretty formal and love pomp.
Go to any Orthodox church.

When I was in Russia I got yelled at for sitting on the floor and steps.
Its nykleturny. Bad manners.

Russians have a lot of class.

It would be a fact. I was in Moscow when Putin was elected president the first time.

You believe too much western pollution.

And what has happened in that ten years? Well, the Soviet Union is gone, with some of its former states wobbling towards democracy, some miredin authoritarianism, and some stuck under Stalinist dictators. But in Russia itself, we have seen in the last few years alone that Putin has pushed through the Duma things like the right to own land, vastly reduced taxes, and the right to trial by jury in criminal trials. Yes, the Russian press is not quite as free as it was about five years ago, but that will pass. On the whole, in addition to the above reforms, Putin has also been working to make sure that his country is friendly to economic growth while also trying to reign in the worst of the criminal businessmen who made Russia such a crappy investment climate in the 90’s. Yes, Russia is still bumbling along in her road to being a democracy with a rule of law, and is not quite there yet, but in no way is she the entity against which our fathers and grandfathers stood watch.

Yep. Its coming. Enjoy every day. The Austrian minister spoke about sending troops to Ukraine. Jens has been pretty jacked up about it.

The bulk of those “nato” troops will be US.

Wonder how the neocons will like that?

Serving the military industry...

Additionally we are now sending longer range missiles, and a drone attack made it to just south of Moscow the other day.

Setting up to be a spy of course.

😂😂😂

My God. It’s a beautiful city. I would love to return but probably not...

We adopted 3 children from Russian orphanages.
Russia won’t mail them to prospective parents. You have to get them. And go through all the bureaucratic stuff...

60,000 children from Russian orphanages have been adopted to America, btw. But really we are all spies. 😂😂😂

https://www.adoptivefamilies.com/resources/adoption-news/russian-adoption-a-brief-history-whats-behind-the-current-media-attention/

Adopting from Russia was an involved, expensive process that required two or even three international trips (or a lengthy stay). Prospective parents did not formally receive a referral before embarking on their first trip, to meet the child. On a region-by-region, or even case-by-case basis, some families would receive photos, a medical report, or even a video before traveling; other families traveled “blind.” Paperwork requirements and court procedures often varied by region, as well, and could involve extensive updating between parents’ first and second trips.

Every Russian adoption required parents to obtain their child’s visa in Moscow. Given the high cost of traveling to and staying in Russia’s capital city, this conclusion to the adoption journey added a significant time and cost. In Adoptive Families’ 2012-2013 Adoption Cost and Timing Survey, readers reported totals of $40,000 to more than $50,000 for a typical adoption in Russia—the highest average cost for any sending country at the time.
