This general is just parroting the new line.

Until he was told by Biden officials that NORAD missed the Chinese ballon’s transiting US air space during the Trump administration, he probably thought the command was doing a pretty good job monitoring the airspace of the nation. After he was told he was wrong by Biden administration political appointees, the general realized the command had shortcomings in its performance and “had to do better.”

Coincidentally, this blinding revelation happened just yesterday. Just coincidentally.

Isn’t object that size, even at higher elevations, would get reported by civilian/commercial aircraft and possibly many others. These balloon + payloads were large.

I’m sure this has been mentioned, but it seems if a spy aircraft with a visible payload from an adversarial country invades our airspace, threatening our national security, wouldn’t the Secret Service/military have immediately called for the President and Vice President to be taken to safe bunkers? Obviously, it wasn’t much of a threat.

Depends on how you define "air space". They don't hustle officials into bunkers every time a Chinese satellite goes over, so "air space" only goes up so far.

The concern the military has with the region above the air space has only been for ballistic objects, including those entering from space. For intercepting ballistic objects they have big expensive missiles on bases which would not be appropriate to fire at balloons over the US in peacetime.

Balloons fell through the cracks. It would be expensive to track them and devise a new system to bring them down from extremely high altitudes (well above 60,000 ft), and the military has other priorities.

We did not see them. We did not detect them; no pilots saw them but it sure as hell happened. Joe’s toadies told us it happened, so it happened.

So I guess that the most super secret that the government has is that nothing really works!

It isn't.

Once again, every moment in the USA there are thousands of people watching the sky for one reason or another. These people talk to each other and none of them saw these "past balloons". These balloons are not small. Ordinary people saw it this time. And brought the public's attention to it.

If this had happened in the past they would have seen it then as well.

So... SHOW ME THE TWITTER POSTS!

I will tell you that we did not detect those [previous] threats.

If they weren't detected then how is their existence known?
Did the Chinese tell him they did it or was it from the rabbit from out of the hat?

Silly boy you are. It happened because Joe Biden said it happened. It must be noted the Joe is a serial liar over decades.

PS
Relative to his press secretary given an impossible task, she is still subpar.

Can one just imagine a lady such as Codellesi Wright being so inept. She was not the press secretary but much higher and was eloquent, logical and cold hard facts. She was a razor of logic.

an anonymous senior defense official told reporters

Translation is "an anonymous Biden official lied to the reporter who knew it was a lie but reported it as fact."
